The following is a list of methods that you can use to boot into your vKey device. 


Boot Option #1: vKeyXE

1.  Plug your vKey device into one of your computers USB ports.  

2.  Open Windows File Explorer and locate your vKey device.

3.  Copy and Paste the vKeyXE file located on your vKey device to your computer's Windows Desktop

4.  Go to your Windows Desktop and Double click on the vKeyXE icon. 

5. Follow the instructions on the screen. 


This will now restart your computer into vKey. Please ensure that you have closed and saved all of your work before starting this process.  

Boot Option #2: Boot Menu

1.  Turn off your computer.  

2. Plug your vKey device into one of your computers USB ports. 

3. Start (Power On) your computer.

4. While your computer is turning on, press the “Boot Menu” key to access your boot menu. 

5. Using the arrow keys or Mouse, Select the vKey Device listed in the Boot Menu, then press Enter or Left click on your mouse.   


This will now start the boot process for vKey.

Boot Option #3: BIOS Configuration

1. Turn off your computer. 

2. Plug your vKey device into one of your computers USB ports. 

3. Start (Power On) your computer.

4. While your computer is turning on, press the “BIOS / EFI / UEFI” setup key to enter the BIOS. 

5. Scroll using the arrow keys to the Boot Order screen. 

6. Enable the “Boot from USB Port” if it is not already enabled.

7. Go to the Boot Order screen and select “Boot USB First” 

8. Exit the BIOS and select “Exit and Save”, then press “Enter”. 


 This will now start the boot process for vKey. 

Boot Option #4: Windows Restart

1. Turn off your computer. 

2. Plug your vKey device into one of your computers USB ports. 

3. Start (Power On) your computer.

4. While your computer is turning on, press the “Shift” Key (Do Not Let Go)

5. Use the mouse to select “Power” then “Restart” (keep holding the “Shift” key).  

6. Select “Boot from a Device” option. Note that the wording may vary on each device based on the model and permissions available. 

7. Select to boot from the “vKey Device” or “USB Drive” (wording may vary on each device).


 This will now start the boot process for vKey.
